Union Home Minister Raises Concerns Over Violence and Infiltration in West Bengal.webp

Kolkata, April 11 – West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, kept her eyes closed while women in various parts of the state were being tortured and humiliated by goons backed by the ruling Trinamool Congress, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday.

"The entire country was deeply ashamed of the horrific rape and murder of a female junior doctor at the R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital. In Sandeshkhali, Trinamool Congress goons had exploited and humiliated women. These infiltrators have become a source of terror for women in West Bengal. And while all this was happening, Mamata Banerjee kept her eyes closed."

"Today, I am saying that all those responsible for such incidents, who have enjoyed the patronage of the Chief Minister, will be behind bars," Union Home Minister Shah said at a campaign rally in Onda, Bankura district, amidst campaigning for the upcoming two-phase state assembly elections in West Bengal later this month.

He also said that those responsible for the killing of BJP workers during the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress will also not be spared.

"Over 300 BJP workers were killed in election-related violence. The Trinamool Congress goons think they can get away with this. I want to tell them that those who have disturbed BJP workers will be held accountable when our government is formed.

"I am warning the anti-social elements of the Trinamool Congress that it would be better for them to stay at home on April 23 and April 29. Otherwise, they will not be spared. The people of West Bengal will vote fearlessly this time. We will make arrangements so that Mamata Banerjee's goons cannot obstruct voters," Shah said.

He also claimed that Mamata Banerjee would deliberately avoid the process of expelling infiltrators from the state, since they were her loyal vote bank.

"Illegal infiltrators are a threat to ordinary people. They are taking away jobs from young people. They are thriving on our food subsidies. But the people of West Bengal will not tolerate a single infiltrator," he said.
