Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, stated that the central government is committed to the welfare of the people and good governance. The Minister was speaking to the media in the Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier in the day, the Union Minister offered prayers at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala. Mr. Chouhan stated that he prayed for the health, happiness, and prosperity of the people of the country. He reiterated that the Centre is focused on ensuring welfare measures and transparent governance for all sections of society.
Later, Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu met Union Minister Chouhan in Tirumala to discuss key issues related to farming in the state. The discussions focused on improving agriculture, implementing farmer welfare schemes, and ensuring the effective execution of Central government programs in Andhra Pradesh.
State Minister Atchannaidu expressed gratitude to the Centre, noting that its initiatives have helped increase farmers' incomes, promote modern farming techniques, and reduce cultivation costs. He also requested the release of pending 645 crore rupees in Central funds for the state’s Micro Irrigation Scheme, emphasizing that expanding micro-irrigation would improve water efficiency, lower farming costs, and boost farmers' incomes. Union Minister Chouhan responded positively, assuring that the pending funds would be released soon.
