
Pune, March 14 Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, said on Saturday that he underwent surgery on his right leg due to an injury he sustained nearly three decades ago, and that doctors had advised him to rest for a month.
In a post on X, the minister, who represents the Pune Lok Sabha seat, said that he suffered an injury during a wrestling bout in Kolhapur 29 years ago that forced him to quit the sport.
The minister said that while he had ignored the injury all these years, the pain had gradually worsened.
"Finally, the doctors said that there was no alternative but this surgery," the minister said. The doctors have advised him to take rest for a month, he added.
According to an aide of Mohol, the injury was related to a ligament in his right leg.
"The surgery has been performed, and his condition is stable," the aide said.
