In Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha appealed to writers and artists to preserve the rich heritage of the Jammu division, promote its legacy, and connect the younger generation to their roots. An Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that the LG said that the traditions of literature, culture, and spirituality in Jammu have taught us to rise above divisions based on caste, religion, and artificial boundaries. The values embedded in our culture represent an ideology that places humanity above all. The LG was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the two-day literary-cultural conclave, "Sahitya Sanskriti Samagam," organized by the University of Jammu. The LG praised the University of Jammu for its unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting the region's cultural ethos and for its recognition as one of the top universities in the country. He said that the society shaped by our abundant literary and cultural wealth will determine who we are and what we can become. The LG urged everyone to reflect in this festival of literature and culture on the true identity that binds us and instills a profound sense of belonging. Paying tribute to great literary figures, the LG emphasised that a region's identity is not merely defined by economic achievements; it shines through its stories, songs, and the vibrant artistry of its people. He said that the enlightened minds of our society must recognize folk arts and folk literature as the living vitality of Jammu. The LG observed that safeguarding our language preserves our memories, while nurturing regional art forms builds self-confidence. On the occasion, the first edition of the University of Jammu's multilingual magazine, "The Litzine," was also launched. The two-day literary-cultural conclave features cultural processions, stalls showcasing indigenous attire, handicrafts, traditional cuisines, books, and arts, panel discussions, and a series of activities highlighting the region's unique identity, honouring languages, folklore, customs, creativity, and literary heritage.
