Bulandshahr (UP), April 7 A statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar, which was installed in an area under the Khurja Police Station, was removed on Tuesday following intervention by authorities.
The statue, erected in a park in Qila Mewai by some locals without permission, was reported to the police.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Tejveer Singh said that the police were informed about the statue on Tuesday morning.
Acting on the information, the Khurja Circle Officer and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate went to the spot with reinforcements and spoke with the locals.
"They spoke with the locals and informed them that the installation of a statue of any prominent figure is prohibited without government permission. The locals accepted this and subsequently removed the statue respectfully on their own," Tejveer Singh said.
