Lucknow/Budaun (UP), March 14 The Uttar Pradesh government transferred the Superintendent of Police of Budaun, Brijesh Kumar Singh, to Lucknow late Friday night.
Singh has been appointed as the superintendent of police (logistics).
He has been replaced by Ankita Sharma, the superintendent of police of Kasganj, the UP Police said in a statement.
In all, seven IPS officers were transferred.
The transfer of the SSP Budaun to Lucknow is significant, as it came just a day after two senior officials of an ethanol plant in Budaun were shot dead (on Thursday), with police arresting a blacklisted vendor in connection with the killings, officials said.
The incident took place at a Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) plant in Sejni village under the Musajhag police station limits, they said.
The deceased were identified as Sudhir Kumar Gupta (58), a general manager (GM) at the facility, and Harshit Mishra (34), assistant general manager.
Meanwhile, former BJP MP from Aonla Lok Sabha seat Dharmendra Kashyap has demanded a CBI probe into the murder of the two senior officials.
Dharmendra Kashyap on Saturday said that this incident is extremely serious and raises several questions that demand answers.
