Jammu, March 1 Major General Ajai Singh Dabas has taken command of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) in Jammu and Kashmir, replacing Major General A P S Bal, the army said on Sunday.

The Delta Force was established on September 5, 1994, and is headquartered in the Batote area of the Ramban district. The force has been instrumental in significantly reducing terrorism in the Chenab valley districts of Ramban, Kishtwar, and Doda.

Upon assuming command as the General Officer Commanding of Delta, Major General Dabas paid tribute to the brave soldiers by laying a wreath at the War Memorial and extended his best wishes to all ranks, the White Knight Corps based in Jammu said in a post on X.

Major General Dabas urged all personnel to maintain the highest standards of operational excellence, maintain unwavering vigilance, and continue fostering peace and stability in the region.

Major General Bal had taken command of the Delta force in November 2024 and led the troops in a successful operation that resulted in the killing of three Pakistani terrorists, including their commander Saifullah of the banned Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit, in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar on February 22.

A total of seven Pakistani terrorists were neutralized in the upper reaches of Kishtwar during the relentless year-long operation.
