Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired a review meeting of the Housing and Urban Development Department to assess the progress of key urban development schemes across Jammu and Kashmir.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), officials informed that 31,173 out of 39,153 houses sanctioned under Phase-I (BLC) have been completed, while the remaining are at various stages. In Phase-II, 27,700 applications were received, with 23,203 verified and 3,011 beneficiaries identified.

Reviewing Centrally Sponsored Schemes such as Swachh Bharat Mission Urban, AMRUT 2.0, and the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihoods Mission, Dulloo emphasized the need for timely completion, particularly in sanitation, waste management, and water treatment projects. He directed the removal of bottlenecks in PMAY and the timely release of assistance.

Commissioner Secretary Mandeep Kaur outlined the progress and future strategy, while officials briefed on the preparations and improvements in waste management systems for the Swachhta Survekshan 2026.

The meeting also reviewed the pilot implementation of the Deendayal Jan Aajeevika Yojana Shehri in Jammu and Srinagar, under which over 2.56 lakh individuals from vulnerable groups have been enumerated and linked to social security schemes including Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

The Chief Secretary also launched a Single Use Plastic Challan and IEC Portal under SBM (Urban) to curb plastic use and promote awareness.
