April 10, New Delhi: Pakistan is facing immense pressure to facilitate a peace deal between Iran and the United States, aiming to stabilize the global economy while ensuring the safety of delegates.
US Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to hold talks with Iran in Pakistan on Saturday. Special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are also traveling to Islamabad.
Meanwhile, state-run news agencies in Iran have strongly denied international media reports claiming that senior officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, have traveled to Pakistan for negotiations with the United States.
State television stated that neither Araghchi nor Ghalibaf has left the country and that they remain in Tehran, carrying out their national duties amidst regional developments.
Sources emphasized Iran's position that negotiations would remain on hold until Israeli attacks in Lebanon cease and the US fulfills its commitment to a ceasefire in the country.
