US Reduces Travel Alert for Nepal Amid Stability.webp

Kathmandu, April 1 The US has lowered its travel advisory for Nepal, stating that the security situation in the Himalayan nation is now "stable," while still advising citizens to exercise caution.

With the formation of the Balendra Shah-led government in Nepal, the advisory level was lowered from Level 3 to Level 2.

The new advisory still called for increased caution while traveling, citing an improved security situation following the end of nationwide demonstrations that began in September 2025.

Following the Gen Z-led protests last year, Nepal was placed under a Level 3 advisory.

"The nationwide demonstrations that began in September 2025 have stopped, and the security situation is stable. However, demonstrations and local unrest can still occur, particularly in cities," the new advisory said.

It urged US citizens to avoid large crowds and follow instructions from local authorities.
