Gorakhpur (UP), April 5 Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday asserted that once Film City is established in Uttar Pradesh, the state's young talent will no longer have to go elsewhere to find work opportunities.
"Before 2017, who could have imagined that a Film City would be established in Uttar Pradesh? (Film producer) Boney Kapoor visited me yesterday and sought time on April 24 for laying the foundation stone of Film City. I told him that I would have to check my schedule as I have prior commitments due to the ongoing elections.
"Just imagine: Had there been a Film City in UP back then, Ravi Kishan would not have had to go all the way to Mumbai. After all, he was an artist and an artist deserves to be accorded due respect," Adityanath said.
He was addressing a 'Yuva Samvad' programme organised by the BJP's city unit here.
"Today, with Film City located in Uttar Pradesh, the youth of the state no longer need to go elsewhere. Once Film City opens, the young people of Uttar Pradesh will find a platform within the state itself," the chief minister said.
Addressing another function in Pandeyhata here, Adityanath said he was confident that once the Gorakhpur heritage corridor is completed, it will be the most beautiful road in the region.
"Shooting for films will take place right here. On holidays, you will see that... Ravi Kishan Shukla ji... will be right here in these very lanes shooting films and acting in them," he said.
On March 28, Boney Kapoor had said at the inauguration of the Noida International Airport in Jewar that the Film City project along the Yamuna Expressway will generate significant employment.
Kapoor is a partner in Bayview Projects, the firm tasked with developing the Noida International Film City near the airport.
He said the airport would give a major push to the Film City project being developed by the Uttar Pradesh government.
