Lucknow, March 13 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Friday that India continues to progress on the path of development, despite global conflicts and economic uncertainty, thanks to "capable leadership".

The chief minister was speaking at the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony of projects worth Rs 1,519 crore under the Green Corridor initiative here.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ensuring that every sector of the country's needs is addressed while accelerating growth.

Adityanath said that Uttar Pradesh will not lag behind and will play its role. Lucknow is emerging as a hub for advanced infrastructure and new technologies while also becoming an important centre for India's defence requirements.

Referring to the Green Corridor project, the chief minister said it was realised due to the vision of Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh.

Adityanath said, "When Singh gave us the vision to ease Lucknow's traffic congestion and improve its connectivity, we achieved that goal."

He said the corridor will significantly reduce travel time across the city by reducing it to just 15 minutes, which earlier took an hour to cover.

The chief minister also highlighted the role of coordinated efforts between government departments in executing the project, noting that land belonging to the irrigation department was transferred to the Lucknow Development Authority to facilitate construction.

Adityanath said Lucknow's transformation was visible to visitors from across India and abroad.

"Today, anyone who comes to Lucknow, they say there is cleanliness, and something new has been done in the state capital," he said.

Adityanath said the project, along with initiatives such as the expansion of the Lucknow Metro and outer ring corridors like Kisan Path, would further strengthen connectivity in the state capital.

He also reiterated the state government's goal to make Uttar Pradesh a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2029-30, with urbanisation and infrastructure development playing a key role.

Congratulating residents of the state capital, the chief minister said the government would continue to work with the Centre to develop Lucknow into a major hub for infrastructure, investment and emerging technologies.
