
Ballia (UP), March 15 Police have arrested a 24-year-old man in the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh on charges of raping a 25-year-old woman under the guise of marriage, a police official said on Sunday.
According to police, the woman alleged in a complaint that Krishna Rajbhar (24), from Sahatwar Purab Tola Phulwari village in the Sahatwar police station area, allegedly had physical relations with her for six years and promised to marry her.
The woman alleged in her complaint that when she became pregnant, Rajbhar told her that he was currently preparing for a job and, therefore, could not afford any expenses at that time. He asked her to undergo an abortion.
The woman alleged that she consumed abortion pills, agreeing to the condition that they would marry once Rajbhar got a job.
The complainant alleged that after Rajbhar got the job, she went to his home to discuss their marriage. But his family members allegedly abused her, drove her out of the house, and also threatened to kill her.
SHO of Kotwali police station Kshitij Tripathi on Sunday said that based on the woman's written complaint, a case was registered against Krishna Rajbhar under sections 69 (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means, etc), 89 (causing miscarriage without woman's consent), 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the BNS.
The accused was arrested on Saturday, the SHO said.
