Nainital, March 27 A passenger was killed and eight others were injured when a bus overturned on Friday while attempting to overtake a taxi, police here said.
The bus was travelling from Haldwani towards Bhawali, police said.
In an attempt to overtake a taxi, the driver lost control of the vehicle, and it overturned on the road.
Seeing this, locals rushed to the scene and rescued the passengers trapped under the bus. One passenger, Sunil Kumar, died on the spot.
Eight other passengers suffered serious injuries. One of the injured, a woman, is reportedly in a critical condition and is receiving treatment.
Further investigation is underway.
