
Dehradun, March 12 The Uttarakhand government has deployed a team of officials and experts at the State Emergency Operations Centre to monitor the supply of food, fuel, and essential goods in light of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, officials said on Thursday.
The deployment follows directives from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
According to a government order, the move aims to ensure the availability of essential commodities, oversee distribution systems, and maintain coordination between various departments.
The designated officials will be stationed at the emergency centre to conduct daily reviews of food and supply stocks. They are tasked with collecting and analysing data while working closely with the Department of Food and Civil Supplies.
Chief Minister Dhami said that the state government is vigilant to ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential goods. He instructed officials to ensure that the supply of food grains, LPG, and other essential goods remains unaffected under any circumstances.
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan also held a review meeting on Wednesday with district officials and state-level coordinators of oil and gas companies. During the meeting, Bardhan assured that there is adequate supply of domestic gas cylinders across the state.
He directed officials to take strict action against black marketing and illegal hoarding of gas cylinders. Quick Response Teams (QRTs), headed by sub-divisional magistrates, have been formed at the tehsil level to monitor the situation.
District authorities have appealed to the public to ignore rumors regarding shortages, warning of legal action against those spreading misinformation.
Nainital Senior Superintendent of Police Manjunath T C said there are sufficient stocks of LPG, petrol, and diesel in the district and across Uttarakhand.
