
The Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, has put on hold the notification regarding the extension of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train service from Katra to Jammu, starting from March 1, 2026. Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that in a communication on Tuesday evening, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) of the Jammu Railway Division, Uchit Singhal, announced that the notification had been put on hold by the railway due to unavoidable circumstances, pending further instructions. Singhal also stated that further information would be shared as and when received. Earlier on Tuesday evening, the Jammu division of the Northern Railway had announced the extension of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train service from Katra to Jammu, starting from March 1, 2026, which had been a long-standing demand of the local population. The announcement also included the decision to operate the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat train, which previously ran with eight coaches, with 20 coaches from March 1, providing faster, safer, and more reliable travel options for thousands of passengers.
