Hyderabad, March 5 – The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has now cleared the upcoming film, 'Saraswathi', starring and directed by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, for release with a U/A certificate.
For those unaware, 'Saraswathi' marks actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar's debut as a director in the film industry.
The production house, Dosa Diaries, announced this on its X timeline. They wrote, "#Saraswathi Censored U/A. Book your tickets now. #Saraswathimovie releasing from March 6th in theaters. Directed by @varusarath5. A @MusicThaman Musical. Produced by Pooja Sarath Kumar & #VaralaxmiSarathKumar under the @DosaDiariesOffl banner. Step into the world of power, crime, and courage."
The film has garnered attention from fans and film enthusiasts since the makers released a trailer.
The trailer begins with Varalaxmi waiting at a police station. We learn that her daughter, Saraswathi, has gone missing. The actress says, "I dropped her off at school myself, but when I went to pick her up, they said she wasn't there."
Meanwhile, Priyamani and Kishore also find themselves in the same situation. Priyamani asks the school's security guard if her child has arrived. The security guard replies that everyone has left and that there is no one in the school. We then see Priyamani and Kishore frantically searching for their daughter inside the school.
The police soon take action and begin inquiries, as Varalaxmi says that her daughter will not go anywhere without her knowledge. Without any proof, Varalaxmi seems helpless. We then see Varalaxmi, after several anxious moments, approaching Prakash Raj, who plays the role of advocate Ramanunajam in the film. Initially reluctant to take her case due to the lack of evidence, we see him agreeing to represent her in court. We realize that a crime has occurred and that, even after a lengthy legal battle, Varalaxmi will be unable to get justice. The trailer ends with Varalaxmi obtaining a gun and learning to use it. She says, "Not every woman will be a Saraswathi. If there is a need, she will even turn into a Kali."
The film has been produced by Varalaxmi herself along with her sister Pooja under the banner of Dosa Diaries.
The film also features actors Prakash Raj, Priya Mani, Radhikaa Sarathkumar, and Naveen Chandra.
'Saraswathi' also boasts of a talented technical team. The film's music is composed by Thaman, one of the top music directors in the Tamil and Telugu film industries.
The cinematography for the film is by Edwin Sakay, while the editing is by Venkat Raajen. Art direction is by Sudheer, and dance choreography is by Brinda.
