Beijing, March 14 Over 4,000 people, mostly Chinese, enjoyed a variety of cultural performances and traditional cuisine at this year's Vasant Mela, organized by the Indian Embassy here on Saturday.

The annual event, titled "One Civilization, Countless Expressions," at the sprawling premises of the old Indian Embassy, is increasingly attracting Chinese, with more people, including their families, joining the spring festival to experience Indian culture, officials said.

Members of the Indian diaspora, along with Chinese artists learning Indian art forms at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the embassy, staged a variety of music and dance performances, entertaining the audience.

The event was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador, Pradeep Kumar Rawat, who said the Vasant Mela is a vibrant celebration of Indian culture, bringing together Indian music, dance, culture, and food.

This year, the embassy has charged 40 RMB (approximately USD 6) per person as entry fees.

Visitors lined up in long queues in front of food stalls of local Indian restaurants, which served a variety of cuisine from different parts of India.
