
February 17, New Delhi – Veteran American actor Robert Duvall, best known for his performances in Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, and To Kill a Mockingbird, has died at the age of 95. He passed away on Sunday at his home in Middleburg, Virginia.
Duvall was also praised for his roles in The Great Santini, The Apostle, A Civil Action, The Judge, and Tender Mercies, for which he won the 1984 Academy Award for Best Actor.
He received six additional Oscar nominations over the course of a six-decade career. With over 100 films to his credit, Duvall excelled in both leading and supporting roles, and later ventured into directing.
Tributes poured in from fellow actors, including Adam Sandler, Viola Davis, and Michael Keaton. Director Francis Ford Coppola, who collaborated with Duvall on The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, described his passing as a "loss."
