
KATHUA, FEBRUARY 24: The Kathua District Administration organized special Gram Sabhas and awareness programs in the border villages of Bobiya and Karol Krishna, under the "Vibrant Village Programme" of the Indian Government.
MLA Hiranagar, Vijay Kumar Sharma, presided over the event in Bobiya, along with Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma. The meetings focused on participatory planning, with draft village development plans presented by designated nodal officers for public feedback. Local residents, including former members of the Panchayati Raj, highlighted civic, infrastructure, and border-specific needs, including proposals for a tourist circuit.
MLA Sharma urged residents to raise any unresolved issues, while the Deputy Commissioner emphasized holistic development, the saturation of beneficiaries under government schemes, and phased infrastructure enhancement.
District and sectoral officers briefed participants on ongoing welfare schemes, encouraging timely utilization. Other officials present included GM DIC Mushtaq Chaudhary, Programme Officer ICDS Mohammed Syed, Chief Planning Officer Ranjeet Thakur, and Tehsildars Anup Kumar and Lekh Raj.
