Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma of Poonch chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Vibrant Villages Programme – II at the DC Office Complex to assess development work in the border areas of the district.

The meeting focused on the progress in 133 border villages, with officials from various departments presenting updates on ongoing projects, infrastructure status, and critical gaps. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed key sectors including road connectivity, housing, healthcare, education, and livelihood generation.

Speaking to the media, Ashok Kumar Sharma said that 18 villages have been identified as strategic border locations and will be prioritized for focused development.

"I reviewed the infrastructure and identified gaps in these villages. A detailed report will be submitted to the Government of India for their development on modern lines," he said.

The Vibrant Villages Programme, a flagship initiative of the Government of India, aims at the holistic development of remote border villages by improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Officials were directed to ensure the timely implementation of projects and address existing gaps to accelerate development in these remote areas.
