Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated today that the border villages are India's first line of defense, and the residents are the first face of India that anyone outside sees. An Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that the LG said that the residents of border villages are not only first in courage, sacrifice, and patience, but also in the priorities of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The LG observed that the residents of border villages are serving the nation every day. This service should not only be acknowledged in words, but also clearly reflected in the quality of life of every family, he said. The LG was speaking at a public event, organized as part of the Phase-II of the Vibrant Villages Programme, in the vibrant border village of Makwal in Jammu. The LG directed officials to ensure that no family is left out and that genuine needs are not overlooked. The LG said that there should be no gap between what the government promises and what people actually receive. He observed that a border village is not the last, but the first village of India. The LG directed that all government officials must remove obstacles and ensure that Makwal and all other border villages receive all the necessary resources. He further directed for dedicated nodal officers for border villages and the submission of monthly progress reports of the villages under the Vibrant Villages Programme. The LG reiterated his commitment to ensure that every border village is connected with better roads, fully functional schools, and abundant opportunities for the youth. Assuring all the necessary support and assistance to the youth, the LG said that there is no shortage of talent in Makwal and other border villages. Our aim is to make Makwal and other border villages model villages, so that young people can see their future here instead of migrating to the cities. For this, all stakeholders must come together to promote entrepreneurship and provide our youth with training, financial support, and consistent mentoring, the LG said. On the occasion, the LG initiated various development works through Own Sources of Revenue (OSR) and handed over handheld X-Ray Machines to the health department, and also felicitated TB Warriors, progressive farmers, and land donors for the establishment of Model Anganwadi Centres. Appointment orders and sanction letters were also handed over to various youth of the village and beneficiaries under Mission Yuva and other different schemes.
