
Bhubaneswar, April 9 A senior engineer from Odisha's Water Resources Department was arrested on Thursday after several properties, including a large building in Bhubaneswar, were found in his possession, officials said.
Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, Additional Chief Engineer (Dam Safety), was taken into custody a day after the Vigilance Department raided his properties, they said.
Acting on a tip-off, vigilance officials carried out simultaneous raids at six locations associated with Mohanty on Wednesday, they said.
During the searches, investigators discovered a three-story mansion in Bhubaneswar and a farmhouse with a two-story structure in Dhenkanal, they added.
The raids also uncovered eight valuable plots in Bhubaneswar and Dhenkanal, officials said.
Further, the raids led to the seizure of approximately Rs 6.23 lakh in cash, bank deposits exceeding Rs 1.81 crore, around 350 grams of gold ornaments, and two four-wheelers, they said.
An FIR has been registered in Cuttack under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
