Jaipur, March 31 BJP leader Vijay Bainsla visited the Ajmer Sharif Dargah on Tuesday to mark the fourth death anniversary of his father and Gurjar movement leader, Kirori Singh Bainsla, and offered special prayers.

He also organised a langar (community meal) at the shrine in memory of his father.

Kirori Singh Bainsla, a retired Army officer, had spearheaded the Gurjar reservation movement in Rajasthan, which led to several large-scale agitations that brought the community's demands into national focus.

His leadership played a key role in securing reservation benefits for the Gurjar community.

"I came here to offer prayers. The dargah has been a place of worship for people of all faiths, and I am no different," Bainsla said.

"I also shared Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' with the people here," he added.

Explaining his visit, he said his father believed in constitutional values and equality across caste and religion.

"The purpose of this visit is also to carry forward my father's message. He fought for one of the most backward communities, the Gurjars, and played a key role in securing reservation (for them)," he said.

"The message is that backward and marginalized communities should come together and contribute to nation-building," he concluded.
