Mumbai, March 25 A 24-year-old man was killed in the Vile Parle (East) area in the early hours of Wednesday after his motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle, police said.
Neelkanth Vijay Ingle, the victim, was on his way to his in-laws' place in Matunga to meet his wife and infant son when the accident occurred near the Centaur Hotel, according to an official from the Vile Parle police station.
The unidentified vehicle rammed his motorcycle from behind.
Ingle was rushed to the hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
His wife had given birth to a baby boy three months ago, and was staying at her maternal home during her recovery.
A First Information Report was registered against an unidentified person under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 106(1) (causing death due to negligence). Further investigation is underway.
