
March 8, New Delhi – The National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), with support from the Ministry of Textiles, inaugurated the Exclusive Handloom Expo – Virasat Shakti, a special initiative celebrating India's rich handloom heritage and highlighting the role of women in the sector.
The inauguration coincided with the celebration of International Women's Day.
The event aims to provide a meaningful market platform for skilled weavers and artisans from across the country. Several women handloom weavers were honored for their dedication, craftsmanship, and contribution to strengthening India's traditional weaving heritage.
The exhibition is being held from March 7 to March 14, 2026, at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi, open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Visitors can explore and purchase authentic handloom and handicraft products directly from the artisans.
This year's expo features 60 weavers and artisans from across India, showcasing a wide range of handloom textiles and handicraft products. The event highlights the creativity, cultural richness, and craftsmanship of India's traditional crafts sector while promoting sustainable livelihoods for artisans.
