Puducherry, March 17 On Tuesday, election authorities in Puducherry launched a voter awareness program, where Tamil messages explaining the importance of voting would be printed on milk sachets sold by the cooperative milk producers federation.
The federation is popularly known as PONLAIT.
District Election Officer A Kulothungan launched the campaign here.
A statement said that as many as 2.10 lakh households would be covered every day under this program, as the packets purchased at various PONLAIT booths would generate awareness about the importance of voting and also the discharge of democratic duties by the electorate.
Puducherry will go to Assembly elections on April 9. The ruling AINRC-led NDA and the INDIA bloc are competing, along with actor Vijay's TVK.
