Voting Day in Assam: Chief Minister Calls for Active Participation.webp

Ranchi, April 9 Appealing to the people of Assam to cast their votes, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said on Thursday that it was a day to determine their rights, their dignity, and their future.

Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is contesting in 16 of the 126 seats in Assam's assembly.

"The struggle will succeed... Today, the sacred festival of democracy is being celebrated in Assam. This is not just voting, but a day to determine your rights, your dignity, and your future," Soren said in a social media post.

"I appeal to all voters, including the exploited and deprived sections of society from Assam's revolutionary land, to actively exercise your franchise," he said.

Soren spent over a week in the northeastern state, holding several rallies, particularly in areas dominated by the tea tribes, which have deep roots in the region, now part of Jharkhand.

"Each of your votes is a voice against plutocracy, lies, and injustice; it is the strength of your rights and your share. United, vote for your rights and a bright future. The struggle will succeed!" he said.

An electorate of 2.5 crore will decide the fate of 722 candidates in these elections, for which polling began at 7 am.
