The Election Commission has directed the governments of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal to provide employees with paid leave on the day of the election.

The commission stated that any employee working in any business, trade, industrial establishment, or other establishment will be granted paid leave on the day of the election.

The commission also clarified that no deductions will be made from their salaries due to this paid leave, and any employer found violating these provisions will be penalized. All daily wage workers and temporary employees are also entitled to paid leave on the day of the election.

The commission has instructed all state and union territory governments to issue necessary instructions to all concerned to ensure strict compliance with these provisions, and to ensure that all voters can exercise their franchise freely and conveniently.

The Election Commission further stated that voters who work in industrial or commercial establishments located outside their constituency but are registered as voters in the constituency will also be entitled to paid leave.
