
Ranchi, March 28 Vice President C P Radhakrishnan will visit the birthplace of tribal icon Birsa Munda in Jharkhand's Khunti district and attend the 15th convocation of IIM Ranchi on Saturday, officials said.
This will be his first visit to the state after he assumed office.
"The Vice President will visit the birthplace of Birsa Munda at Ulihatu village in Khunti district, where he will pay tributes to the tribal icon and interact with the descendants of Munda," an official statement said.
Radhakrishnan is expected to arrive in Ulihatu around 11 am, a district official said.
The Vice President will attend the convocation of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi, in the afternoon.
He will confer medals on seven outstanding students of the institute, including toppers from five programmes.
Additionally, the Student Citizenship Award and the Professor Ashish Hajela Award will be presented for overall excellence, an IIM official said.
A total of 558 degree certificates will be awarded during the event, he said.
In view of the VP's visit, a 200-metre radius from Birsa Munda Airport to Lok Bhavan and IIM-Ranchi has been designated as a 'no-fly zone' for drones, paragliders and hot air balloons.
The areas where the restriction has been imposed are Hinoo Chowk, Birsa Chowk and Argora Chowk, an official statement said.
This prohibitory order will remain in force from 6 am to 10 pm on March 28, it added.
