Walsh, a veteran of the airline industry, is currently the Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

In a statement, IndiGo announced Walsh's appointment as CEO, subject to regulatory approvals, noting that his tenure at IATA will end on July 31 and that he is expected to join no later than August 3.
