Kota/Jaipur, April 8 Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inspected the construction work of the Chambal aqueduct being built under the Ram Jal Setu Link Project in the village of Guhata in the Bundi district on Wednesday.
During the visit, Sharma said the project is one of the most ambitious initiatives by the state government aimed at strengthening water availability across eastern Rajasthan.
He said the project is expected to ensure adequate drinking and irrigation water supply to 17 districts, benefiting nearly 40 per cent of the state's population.
According to an official statement, the chief minister directed officials to ensure quality construction and complete the work within the stipulated timeframe.
Describing the Chambal aqueduct as a key component of the project, Sharma asked officials to regularly monitor the ongoing construction work and ensure timely execution.
He also reviewed the progress of the project and issued necessary directions to officers concerned.
Officials informed that the Chambal aqueduct is being constructed over the Chambal River between the village of Pipalda Samel in the Kota district and the village of Guhata in the Bundi district, with a total length of 2.28 km.
Designed to carry water across the Chambal River, the structure will also support vehicular movement, improving connectivity for local residents.
On the occasion, the chief minister performed a ceremonial puja of the aqueduct pier and reviewed an on-site exhibition detailing the project's progress and design. He also planted a tree at the site, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation.
Before reaching the project exhibition site, the chief minister also interacted with local farmers, listening to their problems. Several farmers raised issues related to water scarcity in the area and irrigation difficulties, to which Sharma assured them of solutions.
