Srinagar, April 8 The popular tourist destination of Gulmarg, along with other areas in the higher reaches of Kashmir, received fresh snowfall on Wednesday, while rain lashed the plains of the valley, the meteorological department said.

According to the Met department, erratic weather conditions will continue until April 10.

The higher reaches of the valley, including the popular ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, Kupwara, and Bandipora, received fresh snowfall on Wednesday.

Srinagar and other areas in the plains of the valley were affected by rain, the weather office said.

Intermittent light to moderate rain and snowfall will continue in the higher reaches until Wednesday evening, accompanied by thunder, hail, and strong winds in some areas, the Met department said.

Some areas in Kashmir may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall, while some areas in the higher reaches may witness moderate snowfall until Thursday morning.

A brief spell of light rain/thunderstorm is also likely in scattered areas on Thursday and Friday, it added.

While the weather will generally be dry from April 11 to April 16, there is a possibility of brief light rain in a few places during the afternoon and evening hours, the weather office said.

Heavy showers for a short period may lead to flash floods/landslides in a few vulnerable areas and waterlogging in some low-lying areas, it added.
