
Chandigarh, March 19 Heavy rainfall affected many parts of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, leading to a significant drop in maximum temperatures.
According to the Meteorological Department here, Chandigarh, Ambala, Hisar, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Gurugram, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Rupnagar, Mohali, and Sangrur were among the areas that received rainfall.
It rained throughout the day in Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, which recorded a maximum temperature of 20.8 degrees Celsius, eight degrees below the normal level.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a maximum of 25.8 degrees Celsius, four degrees below the normal.
Rohtak recorded a high of 20.7 degrees, ten degrees below the normal, while Hisar recorded a maximum of 23.2 degrees, eight degrees below the normal.
Amritsar in Punjab recorded a maximum of 22.1 degrees Celsius, six degrees below the normal.
Ludhiana recorded a maximum temperature of 23.4 degrees Celsius, five degrees below the normal, while Patiala registered a high of 21.6 degrees Celsius, seven degrees below the normal.
