
Chandigarh, March 15 Light rain fell on several areas in Punjab and Haryana on Sunday, leading to a drop in maximum temperatures in both states.
According to the MeT department here, Chandigarh received 0.2 mm of rain, while Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Patiala in Punjab received 5 mm, 1.2 mm, and 2 mm of rain, respectively.
Light showers were also observed in Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Sangrur, Mohali, Fazilka, and Pathankot.
The maximum temperatures in Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Patiala were 21.8, 22.7, and 26.6 degrees Celsius, which were four degrees below normal.
In neighboring Haryana, Ambala, Gurugram, and Karnal received 0.3 mm, 1 mm, and 3.5 mm of rain, respectively.
Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, while Hisar recorded 28.5 degrees Celsius.
Mercury rose to 26 and 30.2 degrees Celsius in Karnal and Narnaul.
Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded a maximum temperature of 26.5 degrees Celsius.
