
Gondia, March 12 One person was killed and four others were injured after a bus carrying a wedding party collided with a vehicle in the early hours of Thursday in Gondia district, Maharashtra, a police official said.
The incident occurred in the Karanja area at 3:15 am when family and friends of Pravin Warkhade were returning to their hometown, Mohadi village in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, after his wedding, the official said.
The bus reportedly hit a roadside tree while attempting to overtake another vehicle, he added.
"Sonu Ukey (26) died, while Laxmi Ghanshyam Uikey (65), Hemraj Chauhan (50), Shobhabai Udal Pandre (70) and Naitik Shyam Sidam (14) were injured. They have been hospitalised and are currently out of danger," the official added.
The bus driver fled the scene, and efforts are underway to apprehend him, the Gondia Rural police station official said.
