
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today reviewed the situation in West Asia and its impact on India's defence preparedness during a meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, Defence Secretary, Secretary (Defence Production), and Chairman, DRDO in New Delhi. During the meeting, the Minister was briefed on the global and regional security scenario, the potential impact of an escalation of the ongoing conflicts on India, as well as the challenges and opportunities presented by the current geopolitical situation. The impact of the situation on supply chain management for the procurement and production of defence equipment, including the maintenance and serviceability of existing equipment, was also examined. Mr. Singh directed that operational and technological lessons from the ongoing conflict should be continuously studied in order to improve the country's preparedness. The Defence Minister added, "We need to formalize a comprehensive and integrated roadmap for the next decade, factoring in the lessons learned, challenges and opportunities going forward, while ensuring self-reliance and operational readiness across all fronts."
