Senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated today that refugees would receive full constitutional rights, while infiltrators would be expelled. Addressing a public rally in Katwa, West Bengal, Mr. Modi said that after the BJP government is formed in the state, the process of granting citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act would be expedited for all eligible applicants. Launching a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress, Mr. Modi alleged that its 15-year rule has given nothing but fear to every citizen of Bengal.

He said that the BJP would take strict action against those involved in political violence in the state. He said that infiltrators should start packing their bags and it is time to leave. He said that those who helped illegal immigrants would not be spared. Mr. Modi said that the massive turnout at BJP rallies in the state is a preview of the results expected on May 4th, asserting that West Bengal is ready for change. He added that in areas where women have voted in large numbers, the BJP has seen significant electoral success. Alleging widespread corruption under the Trinamool Congress government, Mr. Modi said that the BJP would release a White Paper.

Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a public rally in Onda, West Bengal, today. He alleged that the Trinamool Congress's "syndicate raj" has ruined the West Bengal government. He said that West Bengal youth have been forced to migrate from the state, and farmers are not getting fair prices for their produce. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party over the issue of alleged attacks on Bengali-speaking people in other states. She alleged that the BJP has hatched a conspiracy to divide Bengal.
