Alleging unrest, corruption, and appeasement by the Trinamool Congress government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people of West Bengal for support in the upcoming assembly elections.
In a letter to the people of the state ahead of the elections, he not only outlined the various projects and achievements of the central government over the past 11 years, but also expressed his respect for the people of Bengal, stating that the time has come to decide the future direction for the next generation. Emphasizing that public welfare and holistic development have been prioritized in the past decade, he said that the central government has consistently worked across all areas, from farmers' welfare to youth empowerment.
The letter mentions several central schemes, such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and Swachh Bharat. He stated that millions of families have gained access to banking services and gas connections, and healthcare has become more accessible. The letter also highlighted employment generation, infrastructure development, and increased industrial investment.
Referring to misgovernance in West Bengal, the Prime Minister alleged that political instability, corruption, and violence have long hindered the state's progress. He stressed the need for a "double-engine government" to ensure that the benefits of central schemes fully reach the common people of the state. The letter also touched upon the Citizenship Amendment Act and border security issues.
