Kolkata, April 1 Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday alleged that newly appointed officials by the Election Commission were tasked with rejecting nominations from her party's candidates, and urged them to exercise caution while submitting their nominations.
Addressing a poll rally in Nanoor, Birbhum district of West Bengal, Banerjee also criticized the BJP for allegedly misusing central agencies for its political gain.
"Everything has changed; it's a new setup here. The newly appointed officers from the EC are responsible for rejecting your nominations, so be careful while submitting your nominations," Banerjee said at the rally.
The chief minister also urged people, particularly women, not to vote for the BJP.
"They (the BJP) are against women; that's why their names are being deleted in SIR due to logical discrepancies," she said.
The elections to the 294-member West Bengal assembly will be held in two phases – on April 23 and 29. Votes will be counted on May 4.
