The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the transfer of senior officials in the West Bengal government, following the announcement of state assembly elections. In a letter, the Commission stated that it has reviewed the preparations for the general election to the Legislative Assembly and has directed the transfers. Specifically, Dushyant Nariala has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of the state government, replacing Nandini Chakraborty.

Ms. Sanghamitra Ghosh has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Home and Hill Affairs, of the West Bengal government. Sujeet Kumar Mishra, a Secretary of the Election Commission, stated that the Commission's directives should be implemented immediately, and a report on the joining of the aforementioned officials should be submitted by 3 PM today.

Furthermore, the letter stated that the officers who have been transferred should not be assigned to any election-related positions until the elections are completed.
