Suri (WB), March 28 A fire broke out at a corner of a stage shortly after a political rally by senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee in Birbhum district of West Bengal on Saturday, officials said.
Banerjee and other leaders had left the stage in Labhpur and were on their way out of the venue when flames were seen coming from one of the pillars of the stage, they said.
Fire brigade personnel stationed at the site quickly extinguished the fire before it could spread, the officials said.
The crowd that had come to the meeting also left the venue at the time of the incident.
No casualties were reported, and further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, they added.
