
Kolkata, April 5 The IMD on Sunday forecast thunderstorms in some districts of West Bengal until April 9, which would bring down maximum temperatures by a few degrees.
Favorable wind patterns and strong moisture from the Bay of Bengal are likely to bring light to moderate rain over most districts of the state, and this would result in a drop of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in temperatures, it said.
The IMD stated that thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are likely in the districts of Purulia, Bankura, East and West Bardhaman, West Medinipur, Jhargram, Murshidabad, North 24 Parganas, and Hooghly.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely in the remaining districts of South Bengal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are likely in the sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, and Cooch Behar, it said.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely in the remaining districts of North Bengal until April 9, it said.
Kolkata is likely to experience light thunderstorms with rain in the afternoon or evening of Sunday, it added.
