Kolkata, March 20 The TMC pledged on Friday to raise the minimum daily wage of tea garden workers from ₹250 to ₹300, promising financial uplift for one of the state's largest organized labor segments.
In its manifesto for the West Bengal elections, the party said it was committed to extending the exemption on agricultural income tax on green tea leaves until 2027, a move aimed at strengthening the financial health of the sector.
On the welfare front, the ruling party cited its 'Chaa Sundari' and 'Chaa Sundari Extension' housing schemes, under which it claimed to have provided dignified housing to more than 28,500 tea garden workers.
The party further stated that it had ensured the reopening of 85 tea gardens in the state, and highlighted West Bengal's position as the second-largest tea producer in India.
