Chandigarh, March 31 Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak stated on Tuesday that all necessary arrangements have been made for wheat procurement, starting from April 1.

Addressing the media here, Kataruchak said that as part of these arrangements, 1,897 procurement centers have been established. In addition, 266 temporary yards have also been set up for crop procurement.

He said that the crops will be procured at the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 2,585 per quintal.

Kataruchak further stated that the state has received a Cash Credit Limit (CCL) of Rs 30,973 crore for the month of April.

The state has a target of procuring 122 lakh MT, while his department has made comprehensive preparations for procuring 132 lakh MT, the minister said.

Kataruchak further said that strict vigilance will be maintained at inter-state borders to ensure that wheat from outside the state is not sold in grain markets here.
