Jammu, February 23 Police arrested a young man on Monday for allegedly stabbing a woman multiple times with a sharp object, officials here said.
According to police, they received information about a woman being stabbed and rushed to the scene.
Rafia Bano sustained multiple stab wounds, including on her neck. She was taken to a Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, for advanced treatment.
Police launched an investigation. The accused, Amarjeet Singh, attempted to mislead the police by also injuring himself with a blunt knife, but he was restrained in time.
The weapon used in the attack was also recovered.
Rafia Bano is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition, police said.
An FIR has been registered at the Gangyal police station under relevant sections, and further investigation is underway.
