Lucknow, March 30 (PT) A 27-year-old woman was arrested along with her lover and another man in connection with the killing of her husband in Amroha's Hasanpur, police said on Monday.
According to the police, Ruhi, the wife, pretended to be asleep on a cot next to her husband, who was allegedly hacked to death by the lover and another 21-year-old man.
Superintendent of Police of Amroha, Amit Kumar Anand, said the incident was reported on March 29.
The victim, Mehraj, 35, was a native of Piplaoti Kala village in Hasanpur and worked as a mason.
"During the investigation, it came to light when the father of the deceased went to his house in the morning, he found his son lying dead on a cot. He had injury marks on his neck, hand, and leg. On an adjoining cot, Mehraj's wife Ruhi was asleep," the officer said.
The SP said Ruhi's involvement appeared suspicious.
When she was interrogated, Ruhi revealed that she had been having an affair with her brother-in-law, Farman, for at least five years.
Mehraj knew about the affair and was against it, he said.
"On Sunday night, they gave him sedatives, which were mixed in his dinner. At 10 pm, Farman came with his friend Adnan and attacked Mehraj with a knife. Since Mehraj was sleeping, he could not offer any resistance," the SP said.
Ruhi pretended to be asleep on the adjacent cot to show that her husband was attacked by some unknown persons, the officer added.
