Hyderabad, March 30 A 35-year-old man was arrested here on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman with speech impairment and physical disabilities, police said.
The incident took place in Attapur on March 28 when the victim was alone at home. The accused entered the woman's house and sexually assaulted her by gagging her mouth, according to a statement from the Hyderabad Police.
The victim is a relative of the accused, it said.
A relative of the 28-year-old victim, who returned home, found her in a distressed condition without clothes and also noticed the accused, who admitted his mistake and apologized for his actions, it said.
The accused then managed to escape and fled the scene.
Further investigation revealed that the victim indicated, through gestures, that the accused had entered the house after the complainant (woman relative) left and committed sexual assault on her, police said.
The victim has been living with the complainant for about nine years.
A case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered and the accused was arrested, they said.
The accused, who works as a labourer, is a habitual drinker and frequently wanders around in different areas exhibiting unruly and vexatious behavior. Due to his conduct, his wife left him and shifted to her parental house along with their three children, the statement added.
