March 31st, Kolasib: In a significant boost to rural livelihoods, Ropuiliani Women Farmer Producer Company Limited has successfully sold 71 metric tonnes of locally grown turmeric.
The consignment was officially dispatched today from the Kolasib DC Office Complex. Operating under the Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MzSRLM), the women-led company supports over 9,500 Self Help Group (SHG) shareholders across seven districts.
Speaking at the dispatch event, DRDO Project Director Lalmuanpuia praised the initiative, emphasizing that promoting local crops like turmeric, ginger, and Mizo chili is central to the government's economic growth strategy for rural families.
Beyond selling raw agricultural produce, the company is actively expanding its operations. It is currently procuring additional crops from neighboring districts and processing them for value-addition at its dedicated facility in Chhingchhip.
