March 12, New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the three-day Global Conference on Women in Agri-Food Systems 2026 in New Delhi on Thursday.
Organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and its partners, the conference, GCWAS–2026, will bring together over 700 global stakeholders to discuss policies, innovations, and strategies to strengthen women's role in sustainable agri-food systems.
The conference has garnered widespread support, with more than 15 national and international bodies participating as co-organizers and knowledge partners, along with an equal number of sponsors.
Taking place during the UN-declared ‘International Year for Women Farmers’ in 2026, the conference theme, "Driving Progress, Attaining New Heights," aligns with the global focus on women farmers.
The primary goal of the conference is to deliberate on strengthening policy frameworks and ecosystems to promote gender participation and highlight the indispensable role of women in building sustainable and inclusive agri-food systems.
